Dangers of euthanasia: the latest data from the Netherlands

Every five years, Statistics Netherlands publishes data on deaths by “medical end-of-life decision”.
The latest data reports on all deaths in the Netherlands in 2015.
In that year, there were 7254 deaths caused intentionally by lethal medication – 6672 deaths by euthanasia with a request; 431 deaths by euthanasia with no explicit request; and 150 deaths by assisted suicide.

Bipartisan resolution in US Congress warns assisted suicide puts everyone at risk

In an unusual display of bipartisanship, five Democrats and five Republicans have cosponsored a resolution in the United States House of Representatives warning that “assisted suicide (sometimes referred to as death with dignity, end-of-life options, aid-in-dying, or similar phrases) puts everyone, including those most vulnerable, at risk of deadly harm and undermines the integrity of the health care system.”
