In mid-2016 a Parliamentary Committee made 49 recommendations to the Victorian Government in regards to issues at the end-of-life. These recommendations called for the introduction of an assisted suicide and euthanasia regime. Now, in 2017, after an extended parliamentary debate, Premiere Andrews has accepted all of these recommendations, stating that he hopes the matter will be settled by the end of this year. If this is the case, Victorians may have access to medically assisted suicide by 2019.

Even though there is no bill currently under debate, it is critical that everyone in Victoria remain informed about the latest developments regarding euthanasia and assisted suicide legislation, as well practical ways to take action. Together we can ensure that euthanasia remains unthinkable.
